Ekwueme reveals how Jonathan disappointed Igbos.

– Chief Alex Ekwueme, a former vice president and top member of the PDP, does not seem happy with former President Goodluck Jonathan – He speakd=s about Jonathan’s days in office, what the former president told him and how he failed Igbo people Former vice president and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alex Ekwueme, has revealed his disappointment in former President Goodluck Jonathan. Jonathan, heavily supported by the south-east zone, was defeated by Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 governorship election.
But Ekwueme said despite the massive support from the Igbo people and which Jonathan attested to, he never helped to fix challenges in the zone.
In an interview reported by Vanguard, Ekwueme said: “As I said in an interview in the past, Jonathan didn’t treat us very well for the support he got in 2011; which he confessed to me himself was more than what he got from his people in the south-south“He gave an example, that the people who were running against him tried to get a running mate from the south-east, but none of them succeeded in getting a running mate from the southeast to run against him; but even in his own south-south, Oyegun was a running mate to somebody; and when the election was over the Youth Corps members who were brutalised in Bauchi were people from the southeast, not people from the south-south. He told me this himself. “So, he had every reason to be fair-minded and equitable in his distribution of resources.“But we could not go from Enugu to Onitsha on a federal road, you couldn’t go from Enugu to Port-Harcourt on a federal road, we couldn’t go from Aba to Okigwe on a federal road; you couldn’t go from Owerri on the federal road. None of the federal roads in the south-east was motorable.”

Boko Haram: Friend weeps as young Major is killed in ambush

The very bitter story of one young and brilliant army Major Erasmus whose life was cut short in a Boko Haram attack, has been told by a friend who in shock cannot bear the news of his buddy’s demise.

Erasmus 3
According to the horrified friend named Raphael Edem, the sad news of Major Eramus’ demise, filtered in today, October 7.
Edem, who is a media aide to Governor Udom Emmanuel, took to his Facebook wall to pour his heart out regarding the irreplaceable loss of his friend and a Nigerian hero in his own right. According to Edems account, Major Erasmus was at one time the Second-in-Command at the Nigerian Army Brigade in Ibagwa, Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state, until he was posted to Maiduguri, some months ago, to join troops in the eye of the storm, where the Boko Haram war raged the  most.

Erasmus unfortunately lost his live to the insurgents, having fought gallantly; leaving tears to flow endlessly like rivers. Below is an account of the tragic loss as narrated by Raphael Edem. The beginning of friendship “I met Major Erasmus in January this year. We were preparing for the annual ritual of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day. He was the 2/ic at the Brigade in Ibagwa and was coordinating the activities and introducing me to the nuances of military parades and traditions. Friendly, welcoming, affable, very polite, ever-smiling and soft spoken. It was difficult to believe that this young man of about my age, with a baby face and an innocent, almost clerical demeanor was an army officer. I don’t think I have ever met a more friendly and gentlemanly officer! We struck and instant bond and kept in touch after the ceremonies. Brilliant in mind and strong at heart
“He was very intelligent, well schooled within and outside the country where he shone like a millions stars, and going by the testimony of his colleagues that I got to meet at different times, he was an excellent officer who was very professional and good at his job. He invited me to the tombola night at Ibagwa, and we kept in touch despite his frequent trips to Kaduna to finalize his Masters degree programme. Anybody who met him while not in uniform would be hard pressed to believe he was a military man, let alone an army officer.” A hint of death “He told me about his transfer to Maiduguri, but my apprehension about that posting was tempered by the Government’s assurances that Boko Haram had been routed in the North East. Erasmus assured me that we will get to see sometime soon.
Erasmus 2
Alas! That is not going to happen as I woke this morning to the tragic news that he had been killed by an ambush in Maiduguri. And that is how we have lost this young, fresh-faced, bachelor officer.” Heroes forgotten “Today, the enormity of the task and sacrifices made by our armed forces stares me in he face. The career path they have chosen is something everyone should respect and appreciate.
Adieu Major Erasmus, Adieu my friend! Adieu officer and gentleman par excellence. The most painful goodbyes are the ones that are never said and never explained. May God rest your soul and may your ultimate sacrifice not be in vain!” The war against Boko Haram has taken too much from Nigeria, so many young, brilliant and gallant soldiers have been lost in the course of this baseless war. Like Raphael hinted, it is been Nigeria’s tradition to forget the efforts of our fallen heroes and we rarely get to properly reward those who are still living. It is the prayer of Nigerians that the insurgency within the northeast comes to quick end, having lingered too long already. For the friends and family members of the late Major Erasmus, we can only pray that they are granted the fortitude to bear the loss, extending this also to all those soldiers lost in the cause of this war. The Nigerian government must also see to it that the families of this men who stand at the frontline, defending this nation with sweat and blood, are properly taken care off.

The Bigger Dream Deep within, he has always been nursing a bigger dream, which is to become a successful entrepreneur. But, the big question is, how was he going to achieve this fit? How Tinubu picked Osinbajo as Vice President

Lagos-State-Commisioner-for-Environment-Mr-Tunji-Bello
– Mr Tunji Bello has disputed John Paden’s account of the 2015 presidential elections – John Paden’s account of hoe Yemi Osinbajo was picked as vice president – He said Bola Tinubu actually picked the vice president, not contesting for it
Mr Tunji Bello the secretary to Lagos state government, on Thursday, October 9, disagreed with John Paden’s account of how Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, emerged as Buhari’s running mate in the 2015 elections. John Paden in his biography of President Muhammadu Buhari had insinuated that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu wanted to be Buhari’s running mate, but Osinbajo was picked instead. However, Bello said the process of Osinbajo’s nomination started immediately after Buhari emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate at the party National Convention held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, on December 11, 2014. In a statement he signed, Bello contradicted John Paden, stating that Bola Tinubu was the one who nominated Osinbajo for the position. In his statement Bello, said that Tinubu had summoned a meeting to decide who would be Buhari’s running mate the morning after the President emerged the APC candidate.
He said: “I do not know how the author came about his story, but he totally got it wrong because what he wrote basically is based on falsehood that reeks of deliberate misinformation and mischief. “I received a phone call from Asiwaju to see him the morning after Buhari emerged the APC candidate. “On my way to his house, I discovered that a car at a reasonable distance was that of former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Dele Alake, who was, ostensibly, heading towards Asiwaju’s house in Ikoyi. “Asiwaju must have called him too for that task that could be explained underneath. As soon as we arrived, Asiwaju quickly asked us to join him in his car as we headed to a Guest House. At the Guest House, former APC Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, Osinbajo and one renowned pastor joined us. “At the meeting, Asiwaju related to us the urgent need to pick a vice presidential candidate for the APC. He advised that we immediately discard the idea of his being nominated for the vice-presidential slot as it was no longer possible to pick a Muslim-Muslim ticket. “This, he reasoned, made sense if indeed we were to be realistic in our bid to defeat President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 election. He reasoned that what was important and imperative at that time was to look for a good Christian nominee to complement President Mohammadu Buhari.” READ ALSO: FACT CHECK: Buhari lied in his book; Tinubu rejected his Vice President offer Meanwhile, Femi Aribisala in a recent opinion had this to say about Tinubu: “The reality of Tinubu’s politics in Nigeria is that he can be a king-maker but will not be allowed to be king. The best Tinubu has been able to achieve has been to nominate a vice-president who, to all intents and purposes, is not even a major power-broker in government. “As vice-president, Professor Yemi Osibajo has only succeeded in being a fall-guy; for the collapse of the naira and for the failure to date of the 2016 budget.”

Buhari denies freezing Goodluck Jonathan’s accounts

jonathan's accounts not frozen
– The presidency has decried what it described as attempts to tarnish President Buhari’s image with claims that he stopped ex-president Jonathan’s payments – Buhari’s spokesman Garba Shehu says the president is unaware of the claims so also are all bodies that should be aware – Shehu says President Buhari would not stoop so low to engage in vendetta instead of rendering justice Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Buhari says Jonathan’s accounts have not been frozen President Muhammadu Buhari has denied freezing the accounts of former president Goodluck Jonathan as was claimed by some Bayelsa youths in a recent protest. Punch reports that Buhari made the clarification on Friday, October 7 in a statement through presidential spokesman Garba Shehu.  According to Shehu, there was not truth in the report that the presidency froze Jonathan’s accounts because the president was committed to justice and not dealing in vendetta. The statement reads, “The allegation by demonstrators in Bayelsa State on Thursday that allowances due to a former president have been stopped and his bank accounts frozen is patently untrue. “We have confirmed with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation that the former president and other past leaders were paid their allowances up to the second quarter.
“The past leaders have not been paid third quarter allowances but will get their dues when remittances are received by the SGF from the Ministry of Finance.
“Also, the story of account closure is false. It is not known to the investigation agencies. “The National Security Adviser to the President is not aware of this bank account closure; the SSS Director General is unaware of it; the EFCC is unaware and the IG of Police is not in the know. “With all of these agencies not being involved, how then could a thing like that happen? In a dream perhaps! “To put it starkly, we believe there is a clear motive for the demonstration that is different from that which was being canvassed. “This is a premeditated attempt to blame President Muhammadu Buhari for something he knows nothing about. “These claims are false and poorly sourced to present a picture of vendetta; and they should be disregarded by well-meaning members of the public. “President Buhari remains committed to the ideals of justice and fairness to all, irrespective of creed, religion and political leanings. His administration will not engage in vendetta.” Meanwhile, a statement from the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has claimed that the protest which rocked Yenagoa, Bayelsa state on Thursday, October 6 against the alleged persecution of former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience by the federal government may have been sponsored.
