Buhari to launch economic recovery plan

President Muhammadu Buhari will launch next month an Economic Recovery Growth Plan for Nigeria, now going through a difficult recession.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo disclosed this today while speaking in Davos, Switzerland to a Business Interaction Group made up of  international and local investors and business interests.
Osinbajo said the newly developed ERGP  of the Buhari administration has been specifically designed to take the country out of recession and in the long term continue to grow the economy.
He said the planning of the 2017 budget was also based on the ERGP.
Osinbajo in speeches at various events at the World Economic Forum in Davos, also spoke about the Buhari administration’s signature Social Investment Programmed.
The vice-president said empowerment of Nigerians is at the heart of the programme, even though it also has a social welfare component to help the people survive as they are being empowered.
The Vice President not only  spoke to  a packed international Business Interaction Group of investors focused exclusively on Nigeria, he addressed  a panel of Building Africa. He was joined in the discussion by Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
The discussion was televised live by the CNBC Africa.
Asked to mention what kind of radical ideas can advance the African continent, Prof. Osinbajo gave the example of the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programme where for the first time half a Trillion Naira is being budgeted by the Federal Government for Social Investment Programmes.
“It is about investment in people, in their skills, in youths, that we have a N500B allocation in our budget last year and proposed for this year also,” the VP explained.
“It is an investment in education and educating large numbers of people in a short time, it’s a radical thing to make that kind of serious investment in education, ” referring to the N-Power scheme’s training component for young graduates, and non graduates in artisanal and industrial middle-level skills. He also referred to the planned N100,000 supporting grants to students of higher institutions in Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths, STEM.
The Vice President noted that the Buhari administration is “committed to investing more in infrastructure,” than in previous times by ensuring that 30% of the budget goes into capital expenditure.
Besides, he disclosed that the government is working on how to tap into Nigeria’s huge Pension Fund to finance infrastructure in the country. To do this he stated that “we have to first de-risk” such financing models for infrastructure.
An active engagement with the private sector, he said, is also of a great deal, referring to the example of the 650,000bpd refinery project of the Dangote Group, which is going to be the largest single-line refinery in the world.
He said  the Buhari administration is very confident about the recovery of the Nigerian economy.
“It is not difficult to get out of where we are if we understand why we are where we are,” Osinbajo told his audience about efforts being made to re-engineer the Nigerian economy, which  remains indisputably the biggest in Africa.

Katsina votes N300m for rehabilitation of 2 dams

The Katsina State Government says it has approved N300 million for the rehabilitation of two dams to boost farming activities in the state.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Dr Abba Abdullahi, made this known while briefing the media on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting on Thursday in Katsina.
He said that the dams were located at Daberam in Daura Local Government Area and Ruwan-sanyi in Malumfashi Local Government Area in the state.
Abdullahi said that the contract would cover dredging and repair of the dams’ embankments so as to provide enough water for irrigation, human and animal consumptions.
He stated that the government would continue to rehabilitate dams in other parts of the state to enhance irrigation activities.
According to him, the decision is part of the state government’s efforts to revive the agriculture sector to guarantee food security, create employment and check rural-urban migration.
The governor’s aide said that the state government would continue to support farmers with farm inputs to encourage farming in the state.
He disclosed that the administration had selected agriculture, education, health and water supply as its priorities in line with Gov. Aminu Masari’s restoration agenda. (NAN)

Beyonce, others to march against Trump

Beyoncé showed her support for the post-inauguration, anti-Trump Women’s March in a Facebook post.
“Together with Chime for Change, we raise our voices as mothers, artists, and as activists,” she wrote.
The rally will take place in Washington, D.C. and other cities around the world.
Chime for Change, a global campaign Beyoncé cofounded aims to empower women and is an official partner with the Saturday’s event.
“As #GlobalCitizens, we can make our voices heard and turn awareness into meaningful action and positive change.”
The Women’s March takes place the day after Donald Trump is sworn in as the 45th President of the United States.
The march was organized in response to his misogynistic and prejudicial rhetoric he used throughout his campaign.
Groups that feel attacked by Trump’s derogatory remarks include: women, Mexican-Americans Muslim citizens and members and allies of the LGBTQIA community.
Artists like Katy Perry, Cher, Zendaya, Madonna and more have not only publicly supported the efforts of the Women’s March but will also be in attendance at the event, which begins at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Third Street SW.
At press time, there are 616 sister marches on record that will take place across the United States, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia.
Beyoncé’s show of support follows one of the most vocally political periods in her career.
The singer infused the rhetoric and ideologies of the Black Lives Matter movement into her visual album Lemonade, which featured the mothers of slain black men like Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown.
At the Super Bowl, her back-up dancers dressed in Black Panthers-inspired gear.
Just prior to the election, she performed at a rally in support of the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

MMM dumps Naira, to use Bitcoin

MMM Nigeria says it has introduced Bitcoin, said to be the world’s best performing currency in 2016, as part of its mode of payment in its comeback plans
The  Ponzi scheme, which froze accounts of its three million  participants on December 13, 2016, is preparing to return, and it is throwing up a number of plans to get its community active again.
Last week,  MMM  promoters  issued instructions to its participants whose accounts were frozen, to perform “Promo Tasks: A New Tool for MMM Community Development.”
In the MMM message, subscribers were told to perform tasks, both online and offline, to promote the scheme and drive “traffic and participation” by the time the restriction on the account is lifted.
“Being an MMM member implies not only opportunities, but also a responsibility for the state and development of the MMM Community”, the message said.
Now it has come up with Bitcoin, the increasingly popular cryptocurrency or digital currency.
It was said to be  the best performing currency in 2016, appreciating by more than 100 percent , from about $400 per bitcoin to over $1,000 per bitcoin. The currency has now fallen to $887 as at last Friday, with China tightening rules to curb capital outflows.
Prior to the freeze of MMM, participants were allowed to provide help in bitcoin, but they were paid back in naira.
However, MMM new  plan allows participants to receive payment in bitcoin, and watch their monies grow in bitcoin.
In a statement to participants, MMM said “due to the recent sharp price fluctuations of Bitcoin, MAVRO-BTC is being introduced in the system.
“So far, we have only had Mavro-Naira in the system. Even though you provided help via Bitcoin, your Bitcoins, anyway, were recalculated into the Naira at the exchange rate at the moment of providing help, and you were credited with Mavro-Naira in your PO.
“It was the naira amount that grew. In other words, you received 30 percent a month specifically in naira (not in Bitcoins, although you originally provided help using Bitcoins).
“Now, you have a chance to have 30 percent growth of the Bitcoin amount, not the naira amount. So, acquire MAVRO-BTC which will be credited in your PO and will grow at a 30 percent monthly growth rate.
“In a month not only 30 percent will be added to your initial amount, but, it can increase itself due to Bitcoin price growth.
“And, what if Bitcoin price is going to fall? In case Bitcoin price might go down, you will be able to return to naira at any time — instantly convert your MAVRO-BTC into Mavro-Naira (and vice versa, if Bitcoin price might increase again).
“This option is available in PO. You can convert both confirmed and unconfirmed Mavro.
“We hope that with implementing MAVRO-BTC, your participation in MMM will become more comfortable!”

Breaking: Adama Barrow sworn in

Breaking: Adama Barrow sworn in

Adama Barrow has taken the oath of office as Gambia’s new president.
He was sworn-in about 5pm Senegalese time at the Gambian embassy in Dakar, Senegal.
A Photograph on his Twitter handle shows him taking the the oath of office.
He succeeds Alhaji Yahya Jammeh, who lost in the 1 December presidential election and has refused to vacate office when his term expired midnight yesterday.
“This is a victory of the Gambian nation. Our national flag will fly high among those of the most democratic nations of the world. ,” read a tweet after the ceremony.
Western ambassadors to Senegal, the UN envoy for West Africa and top officials from the regional bloc Ecowas (Economic Community of West African States) attended the ceremony, while hundreds of Gambian expatriates gathered outside the compound.
“I, Adama Barrow, do swear that I’ll well and truly prosecute the functions of office the president of the Republic of The Gambia. That I will preserve and defend the constitution,” he said.
In his inauguration speech, he ordered all members of The Gambia’s armed forces to remain in their barracks.
“Those found illegally holding arms will be considered rebels,” he warned.
West African military forces, stationed at the border, say they are ready to enforce a transfer of power in The Gambia, a popular beach destination among European holidaymakers.
Nigeria said on Thursday that its “armed reconnaissance air force are over Gambia”, the AFP reports.
“They have the capacity to strike,” Nigerian Air Force spokesman Ayodele Famuyiwa told the news agency.

Gambian soldiers will surrender: Army chief

Ousman Badjie

Gambia’s army chief, Ousman Badjie said he would not order his men to fight other African troops if they enter Gambian territory.
He spoke Wednesday  as Senegalese and other troops massed on his nation’s borders.
The Senegalese troops backed by Nigerian Air Force and other African troops were on standby to move into The Gambia as President Yahya Jammeh approached a midnight deadline to stand down or face military action after refusing to leave at the end of his term.
“We are not going to involve ourselves militarily. This is a political dispute,” Chief of Defence Staff Ousman Badjie said, after eating dinner in a tourist district close to the capital, Banjul, eyewitnesses told AFP.
“I am not going to involve my soldiers in a stupid fight. I love my men,” he added, stopping to pose for selfies with admirers while dressed in fatigues, beret and green t-shirt, according to those present.
We are not going to involve ourselves militarily. This is a political dispute…I am not going to involve my soldiers in a stupid fight. I love my men.
“If they (Senegalese) come in, we are here like this,” Badjie said, making a hands up to surrender gesture.
Badjie is no stranger to controversy after appearing to declare support for president-elect Adama Barrow and then switching back to Jammeh.
He was recently barred from visiting Gambian peacekeepers in Darfur due to the sensitivity of The Gambia’s ongoing political crisis, which has seen Jammeh repeatedly refuse to step down despite losing a December 1 election to opponent Barrow.
“Our troops are on alert… The ultimatum takes effect at midnight,” when Jammeh’s mandate is due to expire, Senegal army spokesman Colonel Abdou Ndiaye told AFP ahead of the deadline.

: PASTOR E.A. ADEBOYE OF RCCG SPEAKS ON MAKE-UP, JEWELLERY, WIGS & BLEACHED HAIR.

: PASTOR E.A. ADEBOYE OF RCCG SPEAKS ON MAKE-UP, JEWELLERY, WIGS & BLEACHED HAIR.
Below are the details of what he said:
The elders have a say, "if children of the same mother enters into a room to talk and come out smiling, they have not told each other the truth." Alright, so in the next 3 minutes, you might not be smiling as I am going to tell you the truth, because am your daddy. Strictly speaking I have searched the scripture, there is nowhere that I have found where it is written, if you wear make-up, you will go to hell or you will not make it to heaven, I can’t find it in the Bible. It is not to be found anywhere at all, but I have done my own research.
There are two places in the whole Bible where references were made to painting of face, only two places, and the two places are bad. One of the places talked about Jezebel. How many of you will name your daughter Jezebel? 2 Kings 9:30, the day Jezebel was going to die, she did make up properly, painted her face, dented her face with jewelries, but at the end of the day, dog ate her.
The second place is in Jeremiah 4:29-30 where God was speaking in anger to daughters of Zion, He says, "when I make up my mind to deal with you, you can paint your face as you like, it is not going to deliver you." Read it, you have your Bible to read. Those are the only two places I found, and they are terrible references.
Now as far as am concerned, it is up to you to decide how you want to look, you want to make up, you want to paint yourself, you are at liberty.
If for any reason whatsoever God decides not to allow you to enter heaven, sorry o!!!
The point I'm making is this, nobody ever add sugar to honey. Have you seen anybody adding sugar to honey? Anytime you see a piece of furniture that is painted, wooden furniture that is painted, the wood is inferior. When the wood is ebony, nobody paints it, no no no. I think children of God should realise they are precious enough, by the special grace of God and by the shed blood of Jesus Christ. They are honey, they don’t need sugar.
Some people go about in the name of fashion wearing wigs. I'm not being judgemental at all. This is not law, there is no where in the Bible which says if you wear wigs, you can't make it to heaven. But this hair that you are wearing, from whose head was it cut? Do you know who was the original owner of the hair? Do you know what kind of anointing is in that hair? It is put in the most important part of your body, the head!!! "Thou anointed my head." Things are so bad now that some ladies comes for ordination with wigs on. I always asked them, which one do you want me to anoint, the wig or the head? I told you, you will not smile by the time I finished. I have not been legalistic, I have not said thou shall not wear wig. I'm only talking to my daughters, my own children.
I read something in the book of Revelation 7:1-3. Some angels were sent from heaven to deal with the inhabitants of the world, after the rapture, the Bible says, "I heard the Almighty God said, before you begin to deal with people, let me mark them, let me seal them on their forehead, so that we know those that the bullet should not hit."
What we wear matters. Why do you think the army wear uniforms? It is so that they will not accidentally shoot their own members. Can God recognize you at a glance, that is, as a child of God? Some people say it does not matter, and that what is inside is what is important, I agree with the last part, but what is inside will show outside. it will show on the outside, it will show, don’t let anybody deceive you.
When I became General Overseer, I brought a group of teachers to come and teach in the Bible College and they began to teach series of things I did not bargain for. They were teaching that God is not interested in the outside, He is interested in the inside, this man (the G. O.) is legalistic, he is too strict. So I went to Oyingbo market to buy two oranges, one ripe and the other green all over. My Bible students were beginning to turn to rebels and God gave me wisdom, so I stood before the class and I said, which of this oranges will you take if I ask you to pick one? They all pointed at the yellow and ripe one, and I said why? They said because that one is going to be the sweeter one. How do you know when you have not seen the inside? They all said what is inside the orange portrays and shows what is reflecting outside. An orange is sweet from the appearance because its inside is sweet and vice versa to unripe oranges....
It was at this point His passed the real message to his people and the Holy Spirit gave them change of heart afterwards.
People of God, God cannot be mocked, you cannot begin to tell people that God only dwells in the heart of man, seeks the heart alone and not the facial appearance, It is A LIE FROM THE PIT OF HELL !!! ...
You cannot sit on the fence, it either you are cold or hot... Say no to FASHION OF HELL ... Why not be and remain the way God created you? Why are you adding to what God has created? In other words, you are telling God that, "God ooh, see you are senseless to have created me this way I am, I am going to recreate myself back with make ups." (God forbid).
May you not be an enemy of God. Amen. "Let your dressing be in modest apparell, not of painting of face or using of gold ,necklaces or earrings, but of pure heart , shamefacedness and modesty."
Have you considered Jezebel in the Bible? She was a perfect example of the usage of all these things, and she made all these things of demonic value. May you not be among her descendants in Jesus mighty name. Let your watchword be ''WORLDLINESS FORBIDDEN." Instead of the world copying good things from us (believers), we the believers are the one copying bad things from the world! Very shameful and pathetic!
Remember, "friendliness with the world equals to enmity with God.
Beware of the end time vices and change your ways now!pls send it to all Ladies and women

Justice Ngwuta sent me to remove N27m cash, documents, cars from his home after DSS arrest, witness tells court

Justice Ngwuta sent me to remove N27m cash, documents, cars from his home after DSS arrest, witness tells court

Justice Ngwuta sent me to remove N27m cash, documents, cars from his home after DSS arrest, witness tells court

The trial of Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court, continued on Wednesday with the first prosecution witness taking the stand.
The witness, Mr. Nwamba Chukwuebuka who is a building contractor, told the Federal High Court, Abuja, that he received, at various times, funds amounting to about N313 million in cash from Ngwuta to develop different properties for him.
He also alleged that the jurist sent him to his house after his arrest and bail, to remove a bag containing about N27 million in cash, documents and some cars.
According to him, he got N313m out of the total project cost of N405m within nine months, spanning from January to September 2016, to develop three properties in Ebonyi State.
Ngwuta who was arraigned in court on November 21, is facing a 16-count charge of money laundering, age falsification and alleged illegal possession of multiple international passports.
According to the witness: “The defendant in this case is my customer. I was introduced to him by someone who told me that he was in need of a reputable firm or individual to handle certain building and construction work for him.
“The person’s name is Mr. Kenneth, a motor mechanic. On December 31, 2015, which was the first day I met the defendant, he showed me an empty plot of land close to his house and told me the structures he would want my company to design and build for him.
“I took the brief, assembled my workers and we came up with designs of those buildings he mentioned and built them as well. The structures he asked me to construct were a storey building library block, a four bedroom bungalow with kitchen, all self-contained, to reclaim a plot that was swampy and make it habitable, to also raise two four detached bedroom duplexes and to put a huge fence to contain all the structures and connect it with the existing ones. And to build a car park to house some vehicles.
“After I got the instruction, I prepared my drawings and designs and took them to him for approval on January 2, 2016. He was satisfied with our presentations and designs.
“I saw the defendant again on January 4. I presented my bill to him through my quotations for payment. The amount I quoted was N148m.
“The defendant did not agree to pay the amount. He offered to pay N130m. On that January 4, I was mobilised to commence work for the defendant. He gave me N40m in cash comprising N25m and equivalent of N15m in US dollars.
“There was no formal contractual document between us. There is no record except for acknowledgement in some of my quotation papers and notes the defendant gave to me. Deadline for completion of the project was October 2016, which was 10 months. I achieved the deadline and I was fully paid for the project all in cash both in foreign and local currencies.
“I cannot recall how much exactly was given to me in foreign currencies. That was however, not the end of my relationship with the defendant. We had another construction project at Onwe Road in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
“The project involved demolition of a dilapidated building, sand-filling the area to achieve a reasonable level because it was very down from the road and then the construction of four units of four bedroom duplexes for commercial purposes.
“My quotation for the second project was N165m. The defendant has not paid me all the money. So far I have received a total of N100m. The project is up to 70 percent completion. He gave me the N100m in cash, record of the payment is on my quotation sheet. I got the cash in both foreign and local currencies. There was no specific deadline for the project.
“There was also another re-construction project at Amofia Ukagwu, Onicha LGA in Ebonyi. The project involves demolition of a poorly built structure and to erect a duplex with a pent house, a boys quarter, fencing, painting, a gate-house and decoration.
“The agreed project cost was N110m. I received N83m out of the amount from the defendant by cash and money transfer through the bank. I got N53m in cash, both in local and foreign currencies. The balance was sent to me through inter-bank transfer from Union Bank to my account in Zenith Bank.
“Deadline for completion of the third project was December 2016. We commenced the project in June. The total amount I received for the three projects was N313m from January 4 to September 2016.
“Indeed I was deeply concerned and bothered about receiving such huge amounts of cash from the defendant. I was concerned about the safety of the defendant and the huge cash around him. I was not previously accustomed to receiving such huge amounts of cash from my customers.
“At one point ,I raised my concern to the defendant. He told me not to bother because those were proceeds from his work and overseas conferences and other assignments he engage people to do for him.
“He said that he got his money legitimately and saved it. He said that he attended conferences of Supreme Court Justices and other such conferences where he was paid in hard currencies and that he never went on holidays overseas like other Judges.
“I had contact with the defendant on October 9, 2016, shortly after his arrest through a certain un-saved number. He called and told me that I should go to his residential building. That he doesn’t know what was happening at his house in Abuja. That I should enter his bathroom and remove some bags and items there.
“That I should move the items out. That he was afraid because his house in Abuja was evaded by security operatives. So I proceeded and did exactly what he told me to do.

Tragic accidental bombing not true reflection of NAF's professionalism - Lai Mohammed

Tragic accidental bombing not true reflection of NAF's professionalism - Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has described as utterly tragic the accidental bombing of a civilian community in Rann, Borno State, by a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jet, causing deaths and injuries.

In a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister sends his condolences to the families of those who died in the unfortunate bombing and prays for quick recovery for the injured.

Alhaji Mohammed, who recently led members of the BBOG and the media to Yola, where the Air Component of the fight against Boko Haram is based, said he was particularly saddened because the accidental bombing is not a true reflection of the level of professionalism that he witnessed during the visit
''One of the things we went away with after spending some two days at the Tactical Air Command in Yola is the strict adherence to operational guidelines and the high level of professionalism of the officers and men, especially the young pilots who fly high-risk missions day and night.
''Among others, we witnessed pre- and post-mission briefings for the pilots, the high attention paid to details, especially concerning emergencies and weather, and the evacuation plan in case of accidents.
We heard that on several occasions during their sorties, fighter pilots have had to hold their fire after observing the movement of women and children in Sambisa. We also witnessed the same careful disposition when we flew to Sambisa with the pilots.
''It therefore came to me as a rude shock to learn, a few hours after leaving Yola, that one of the fighter jets has accidentally bombed civilians, including aid workers,'' he said.
The Minister urged the NAF to continue to take the necessary measures to avoid civilian casualties, as it carries out its challenging task of keeping Nigerians safe.
